Rick Wakeman created a re-recorded and extended version of Journey to the Centre of the Earth to celebrate the album's 40th anniversary, released in 2014.

The new version, featuring the Orion Orchestra and Jules Verne Symphony Orchestra, includes about 18 minutes of music previously cut for the original LP due to time constraints, making for a more complete and longer rendition of the work.
